VCE subjects
Every VCE subject we tutor has its own page, with what the course covers and the tutors we have for it. Start with your child's subject below, or tell us what they're taking and we'll point you to the right place. More than half the families who contact TMJ are asking about VCE, usually for Year 11 or Year 12.
We carefully match each student with a tutor who suits their subject and the way they learn. Tutoring follows your child's own school program, in person at home or online. You'll speak with the tutor before the first session, and our team stays involved after that.
Find your subject
If your child's subject isn't listed, tell us what they're studying and we'll let you know what we can arrange.
Every VCE student takes at least one subject from the English group, and it always counts towards the ATAR. Most take English. English Language suits students who like working out how language works. Literature suits keen readers who enjoy looking closely at a text.
General Mathematics leans on data, finance and practical problem solving. Mathematical Methods is the calculus-based course that many university courses list as a prerequisite. Most students who take Specialist Mathematics study it alongside Methods.
Doing the IB instead? IB tutoring has its own page. Still in Year 9 or 10? See Years 7 to 10 maths, English and science.

Careful matching
Every tutor is personally interviewed and chosen for how they teach, not just their results. For VCE we look first at the subject and the unit your child is taking, then at how they like to work and the kind of tutor they're likely to respond to. The tutors you'll meet on our subject pages are university students with recent VCE or IB results of their own.
Each tutor teaches in their own way, working from the material your child's school is setting now. Some weeks that means going back over a class that didn't make sense. Before a SAC, it means getting ready for it. If something isn't working, we step in early and refine the pairing.
