Turn an understanding of the text into a well-supported response. Units 1/2 develop personal responses before moving into analytical essays. In Units 3/4, support focuses on a sustained interpretation, the author's choices and evidence that directly answers the question.

VCE English tutoring
Support for English
From understanding a set text to writing under exam conditions, support follows your child's English program.
In Units 1/2, every assessment is set and marked by your child's school. In Units 3/4, school-assessed coursework and the three-hour end-of-year exam each count for half the study score. Bring the current text, writing task or teacher feedback, and sessions can start with the next piece of work while building the reading and writing your child will use throughout VCE.
Units 1/2
Build a foundation in text response, original writing and persuasive analysis, using the texts and tasks chosen by your child's school.
Units 3/4
Develop more precise analysis and controlled writing, with preparation for English SACs, oral presentations and the final exam.
01
Text response
Turn an understanding of the text into a well-supported response. Units 1/2 develop personal responses before moving into analytical essays. In Units 3/4, support focuses on a sustained interpretation, the author's choices and evidence that directly answers the question.
02
Crafting and creating texts
Develop original writing with a clear purpose and audience. Unit 1 introduces crafting through school-selected ideas and mentor texts. Unit 3 develops this through the school's chosen writing framework. Support includes planning, revising and explaining the choices behind the writing.
03
Argument analysis and oral presentations
Explain how an argument persuades its audience. Unit 2 introduces analysis of persuasive texts and a point of view presentation. Unit 4 sharpens that analysis across written, visual and spoken forms. Support can also help your child develop and rehearse their own persuasive presentation.
